Shiney Happy People..

6a00e553fe5d9388340105371f34cd970b-800wi1One of the hardest things about being human is that we grow older and eventually die. Many people spend their entire lives trying to delay this inevitable fact of life. They diet constantly, over exercise, have cosmetic surgery, and God knows what else. Often people try to hold onto their “younger self” because they truly do feel old. Whether it is a mental or physical feeling, to themselves, they are old and they are probably right. Other people tend to take a different approach. They ignore the fact that their unhealthy lives are accelerating the aging process. They feel that their poor diet, lack of exercise, and tired bodies will always have pills and doctors to prevent or slow down their demise. The worst part of this is that both of these people usually go through life suffering from sickness, disease, and emotional stress. And slowly their bodies begin to break down and fall apart as they age.

Training your body properly to function at a high level, eating foods that have real value, and challenging yourself physically and mentally will allow you to live feeling vibrant, strong, and healthy your entire life. Going to extremes to fight off the effects of aging with surgery and pills are no longer necessary because both your body and mind are healthy. The environment and type of functional training done here at CrossFit Prime can help you achieve that level of health. It is often said that a strong body produces a strong mind. Nowhere else is that more true then here. By training in the manner that we do here you are setting yourself up to be able to live a fuller more productive life in all aspects. Just coming here alone puts your mind in a state of growth. Add the training and psycho social aspect of the group environment and you are setting yourself up to not just feel healthy but to actually be healthy.

So keep coming, keep crossfiting, and don’t fear the reaper!

It is never too late to start exercising regularly. I finally decided to take that jump in March with serious diet changes, and was pleasantly surprised when a CrossFit opened up in NE Philadelphia in June!

However, I have to realize that my 38-year-old body is not what it was in high school. Because I really do try to push myself as much as I can, my aging process sometimes gets the best of me. This morning, it was my back again acting up which is why I did not come in today, and may not for a couple of days until it stops hurting. Couldn’t even do any work in my basement like I wanted to the rest of the weekend after CrossFit. My mind says, “do it,” but not my body today. I need that rest that John talked about a few times.

I cannot wait to get back into the swing of things at CrossFit Prime as it really has become a part of my changed lifestyle. John is so correct in his statement above, “Just coming here alone puts your mind in a state of growth. Add the training and psycho social aspect of the group environment and you are setting yourself up to not just feel healthy but to actually be healthy.” I’m doing that now and CrossFit Prime has helped me with the mind/body/spirit changes to elevate my well-being.

Good job this week Mike. I think your back will be fine. The kipping practice probably has something to do with it. We will keep extra attention on form upon your return. Your do for some rest anyway. Every so many weeks we need to string together a few days of solid rest or our bodies will start to let us down no matter how fit we are.

    Great post.

doing the kettle bell swings with higher weight probably put a big load on your lower back regardless of how good your form was. ill bet with a few days rest if you do the same workout a week from now you’ll hardly feel it.

Hey Mike G. Rest up. I know how you’re feeling. Hope your recovery doesn’t keep you away too long.

I also want to thank John for his dedication to my personal fitness goals. It may have been a little over the top to follow me to the grocery store and tackle me everytime I reached for something that I shouldn’t be eating, but really, your dedication is admirable. LOL.
